Shaun Holt, Technical Director of Merchant Pagan was awarded an MSc in Forensic Computing at a ceremony last week at the University of Bradford. This is the culmination of fifteen months of hard work and study on what is a rare and specialist qualification.

The course has taken Shaun through core modules of Crime Scene Management, Computer Crime Investigation and Cryptography as well as Information Security.

"This course ran alongside MSc routes in Internet Security and Mobile Applications", says Shaun "we had common modules but were able to work on very interesting areas of computer security."

Of working and studying Shaun continues "It was not a case of trying to adjust to student life again it was more of a case of how do I fit work into my studies?".

The skills picked up on the course have already been put to good use by Shaun in the Witness Box at an Industrial Tribunal in June.

"This was a very rewarding experience as although we lost the judgement the tribunal board awarded only a fraction of the settlement fee. In short this was a meaningful and correct result in what was my first case."
